Quenching Blue Chapter 1

The animation Quenching Blue starts with an idea came to my mind when I was painting bitmap for a 3D character. I found most work for the bitmaps was attempting to hide edges and lines of the models. Then I though how would it look like if I intensively strengthen them? I made several simple geometric characters and gave them bitmaps like rusted metal.

In this story I tried to make the visual rendering not science-fictional. All the characters are robots. Contrarily, they live as normal humans. They are facing predicaments like loosing jobs, growing a child, and so on. I attempted to tint this animation worm and put some steampunk details to stylise it. Even the characters were make 3D, the environments were all composed by painted 2D work. With the powerful capacity of Adobe After Effects, the visual rendering performed naturally and the effects of it contributed a lot.

Considering to the limit time, there is only chapter 1 finished now. There is still some other work need to be accomplished to diversify my showreel. On the other hand, I will continue making this whenever I have leisure time. The story frame is already finished and I pretty like it. It can be foreseen the whole animation will appear before long and it can definitely be a nice one.
